A new clickjacking scam has affected thousands of Facebook users in the last 24 hours. Due to this latest development, Better Business Bureau (BBB) has issued an official warning on what has been a modus operandi that is continually plaguing the popular social networking site.
The latest clickjacking scam to hit Facebook: OMG!! This GUY Went A Little To Far WITH His Revenge On His EX Girlfriend!"
Once you click the link, the scammer will be able to infect your computer, send spam emails to everyone in your address book while posting "like" messages on your Facebook wall. However, no spreading of malware/spyware is involved.
Subscribing to the malicious link (which is done when you complete a seemingly harmless validation test - to ensure that the response is not generated by a computer) is tantamount to clicking the "like" and "share" button". This in effect posts the messsage on your wall.
Facebook's official comment: "As always, we advise people not to click on suspicious-looking links, even if they're from friends." - in response to AFP.
